Turn a conversation into an issue.

Connect once and "open an issue for this" works from anywhere. Halo files it in the repository you name, with a title and body drawn from what you were just discussing, and asks before anything is created.

This is the first slice of the GitHub integration; deeper help around pull requests and mentions is on our list.

Premium

A paid capability, part of a Halo plan. The free Mac app stays fully featured on its own.

What Halo does with it

With a Halo plan

  • Creates issues in any repository you can write to
  • Drafts the title and body from your conversation
  • Asks before anything is filed

How it connects

You authorize. Your Mac holds the key.

  1. 01

You authorize once, in your browser

Halo opens GitHub's own sign-in page. You approve exactly what Halo is allowed to do, nothing more.

  2. 02

The key goes straight to your Mac

The access key is handed to the Halo app and stored in the macOS Keychain, encrypted on your device. It never sits in a browser tab.

  3. 03

Your Mac talks to GitHub directly

Every request goes from your Mac to GitHub. Halo's servers never sit in the middle. They never see your messages or your content.

What stays private

Your GitHub key lives in the macOS Keychain and requests go from your Mac to GitHub directly. Halo's servers never see your code or your repositories.
